    L71 center carb linkage-lever travel

In replacing the carbs on my '67 L71, I noticed the accelerator lever hits the firewall before the center carb is fully open. It hits at about 2/3-3/4 open. I have the correct linkage, rod, and lever, is this normal, or should it swing all the way to open the center carb? Thanks for any advice.

The linkage adjustment is made via the threaded throttle rod and swivel connection to the accelerator firewall lever; have you followed the linkage adjustment procedure to get wide-open throttle?

Thanks John, yes, the threaded adjustment on the accelerator rod is not enough to get full open. The travel on the accelerator lever from back of engine block to firewall is also appears to not be enough. I am now wondering if either the accelerator rod, or maybe the accelerator pedal swivel lever is not correct or bent? The accelerator lever is correct for sure, cutouts in it fit the firewall. It appears the accelerator pedal is not as far out from the floor board as it should be, so will try a new accelerator pedal swivel lever to see if that works. I am also looking into the accelerator rod, but the one I have from Long Island appears to be correct for an L71, 4 speed.
