    54 weatherstrip installation

Im not far from doing this and im looking for some advice for the doors, trunk and top lid. How have you folks done this without making a mess of things. Use the yellow glue? Tape it in place first? Doors have been adjusted to fit correctly without weatherstrip. This car will never really need it but I want it because its supposed to be there. Thanks for the advice.

    Re: 54 weatherstrip installation

First - IF you are going for judging you will need the Diamond weatherstrip - there are two guys making the correct weatherstrip
Let me know if you need their names
Second - get the right glue - I use Weldwood brush on contact cement - IMO it looks just like the brownish glue used by the OE - I buy mine at ACE
Third - get acid brushes - dont use the brush in the cap - I buy mine at ACE
Fourth - start at one end - I brush on about 6 to 10 inches at a time - be sloppy - it was from the factory - set in place - hold - then tape with blue tape
It will take you some time
It is a PIA and is tedious but will look good when done
WHen you are done - close the panel to help set the weatherstrip - it will be tight !!!!

Thanks Chriss, it great to talk to someone who has actually done it. I bought the weatherstrip from CC. I hope I didnt screw up by doing so and the strips arent too large in comparison. I dont think Ill ever judge this car, doent have the original motor, came out of a 54 Belair. F54Z. I like hydraulics anyway.

for me....the CC stuff and the 3M stuff - "yellow snot" is too yellow......
The Weldwood is the closest I have seen.
It takes alot of patience to put the wstrip on .......
