1960 Clutch push rod retainer and seal

At the Nationals in Hampton the judges gave me a deduct for my clutch push rod retainer and seal. They said it would be on the engine side of the firewall. I have attached a picture of the AIM Section 6 Sheet 7.00 which seems to show the retainer and seal on the inside of the firewall and the screws orientated with the screw head on the inside of the firewall and the threads protruding on the engine side of the firewall. My car is an early 1960 and I installed it per the AIM and that is the way mine was installed when I removed it, i.e. it was on the inside side of the firewall.

There is also a link below from an earlier thread that says the orientation was change from the inside of the firewall to outside in 1961.

I also posted on the Corvette Forum and a 59 owner says his is on the inside like mine.

Can someone with an early 60 check to see how yours is installed?

    Hi Don,

Responded over on CF, but my pics might be worth viewing here also. I'm the second owner of this 1960 and believe that the clutch rod bracket has never been out of the car.

I know the steering column bracket has because I had it out when I rebuilt the steering box.

      Thanks Tom,

I think I will just leave mine alone and live with the judging hit.

When I took the one out of my early 59, the retainer and seal were inside the car, not in the engine compartment. It's a Nov 58 build

My '59 is inside too; Dec. 58 build.
