I have been working on the hood latches for my 57. I installed new female receivers on the latches. However, I noticed that the two male pieces are different. One has a male piece below the spring of less than one inch while the other one is over one inch. Which is correct. From catalog photos it looks like the shorter one is correct. However, both seem to work. Would like to correct the discrepancy. Thanks for your help.

Re: 1957 hood latch
Steve, The quickest way to tell you is to show you pictures of the two. I don't think they are adjustable but I can check again. TedIMG_3210.jpgIMG_3211.jpg- Top

Re: 1957 hood latch
The "long" one (which compresses the spring quite a bit) doesn't look "typical" to me. It's been a while (1996), but I recall using a later year pair of male bolts that had serrations (which solved a hood latching problem) and the serrations couldn't be seen unless you pushed up on the spring collar.- Top
