C2 gas tank strap bolts & nuts

How are the C2 gas tank straps attached in the front? I see some venders selling sets having 4 nuts per bolt, while others have only have one nut per bolt. Which is right, if either?

Jeremy here is from my '65 AIM. It looks like there are 2 nuts the bottom one has lock washing attached. I bought new tank straps several months ago and have not looked at them yet, I'll take a look and see what they sent me.

Yeah that is what my 66 AIM says, but if you look a the bottom diagram, there is 7, 8, 9; with 7 being the bottom nut with an integral star washer, 8 which is a regular nut, and 9 which is a push on nut. That is in the middle (nut count wise) from what the different venders sell. And the top diagram doesn't show the three nuts per bolts, only two.

        Jeremy,

I took a close up of the strap prior to disassembly I think the thin piece of steel is the "Nut-Push On", I'm not sure what purpose is serves. It might have been something to aid in assembly.

I think the straps I bought were from Quanta, and looking now the hardware doesn't look very close to what I took off. I'll see if I kept the old straps. I'm pretty good (or bad) about holding on to old parts.

The "Nut-Push On" you picture just above the inside nut (item 7) was also on my original set up. I will assume it was used to keep the distance of .87 inches call for in View A of the AIM (UPC 8 sheet B2.) Note the bottom of the bolt is pointed however that can not be seen since spare tire carrier covers it. (make sure you document where the glue is for the anti-squeak straps)

63-66 used keps nut (nut with washer) at bottom
67 used hex nuts top and bottom

Thanks guys, that makes sense now. My car had one strap bolted like I guess it should had been, but the other was just the bolt and a single nut.

Confusion comes because some vendors sell a package that contains two keps nuts and four hex nuts so they can be used for 63-66 OR 67 cars.
