Are tank stickers and invoices of value in judging?

I have the tank sticker off my 67 and believe I will shortly get the original invoice on my 64 From the selling dealer (that will be amazing). Do these documents help substantiate a car in judging or is the car only judged based on 'face value' with documentation considered unimportant?
Secondly, my tank sticker was so fragile I hot laminated it and keep it stored (dark place). If documents like this are considered in judging, would there be deductions if not preserved in some standard manner? If I get the invoice I want to make sure I preserve it in the most acceptable manner. I've read old posts talking about the different ways people have preserved tank stickers so now I know lamination may not have been the best way (I do also have high quality digital photos showing it on and off the tank) but what's done is done.

No credit or deduction for paperwork or lack of it. By paperwork I mean, tank sticker, shipper, invoices, window stickers. It can be provenance when you try to document the vehicle.

Dick, thanks, haven't had a car judged in about ten years and that's what I thought but wasn't sure.

If you have a car with an unusual option or paint color, the paperwork could help.
I brought a black '73 for judging and the paint code was blank. The build sheet called out "black paint" and that saved a total deduction for a color that wasn't available.

How are you going about getting the original invoice for your '64?

Documents can provide the burden of proof if there is s a judging dispute. However for them to be accepted on the judging filed they must be validated by the NCRS document validation service, prior to submission as burden of proof.

Perry and Roy, interesting story- about three years ago I ordered and got the shipping report from NCRS. I assumed the dealer was out of business or no one would remember the car so did nothing to follow up. A month ago I thought of googling the dealer (I am not of the googling generation) and was surprised to find not only are they still in business and under the same family ownership. I wrote them a letter, included some pictures and sent it off-not expecting anything. In a couple of days I got an email from the GM and son of the principle in 1964. He said they had gone through their records and had a copy (carbon I assume) of the original invoice. He said his father had sold the car; he thought the buyer was dead but would contact the family and see if they had any documents or pictures. He said he was going on vacation for a couple of weeks but would get back to me. So who knows what if anything I will eventually get. The invoice may only give a total and not specify options (my car is L84, P48 & C07 so it would have been above $5K). Anyway, the prospect is exciting and the inquiry fun. I know the history in detail from 1972 on but having the first 8 years would be great.
Roy, thanks, I will read about the verification service to see the tank sticker from my 67 would qualify for your service now that it is laminated.

Interesting, I have similar stories of research into the delivery dealer and previous owners, but you must beware of some things they send you, thank goodness for Roy and the Doc Validation services. Good luck, hope you get some valid gems, I got a few, but some trash too.
