    69 Body Emblems and Bezels

I would like some advice on all the body emblems. I know that NOS is what we all want but I was wondering if there are some really good reproduction pieces out there that some could recommend. I'm looking for suggestions for all the die cast exterior pieces from the lower grill moulding to the hood inserts(which I seem to remember that the NOS ones were quite poor), 427 numbers, Stingray script, exhaust bezels, licence plate bezel, etc. I do plan on having the car judged so I'm looking for quality repop pieces here. Thanks

Greg, my feeling is that Trim Parts makes about the best reproduction emblems, I think that there are still some NOS pieces around Ebay may be a good place to look. I believe you will find most of the repro parts quality is just to good, as is the chrome, so you may or may not have a problem with minor deducts with the parts your are speeking of during judging.

Thanks Ed. I wasn't thinking about Trim Parts so I'll check them out and see what others have to suggest. One thing that I seem to remember is that just because a particular part is NOS it doesn't mean that it will pass for typical factory production(the hood inserts come to mind here). I guess what I'm saying is that I'm not necessarily looking for NOS pieces, just ones that might pass as typical factory production.

Most of the NOS Stingray emblems for your car would be incorrect

            Greg,

Please elaborate re: the NOS hood inserts not passing for typical factory production.

I can't quite remember where I got that from(maybe someone else will chime in on this and help me out) but I seem to remember someone saying that the NOS ones were different than production ones because of later mold issues. I don't remember if the NOS quality was better or worse and I don't want to say too much here because I don't want to put out false info if I'm wrong about this....

Okay I see that Trim Parts has the 427, Stingray and flag emblems for the nose and fuel door so I'm okay there. What about the lower grill trim, hood inserts, exhaust bezels and licence plate bezel? They don't carry those so is there a good source for these?

                  Hi Greg
Hope all is well. I was going to send you and email to see how you are doing on the 69, I've been really busy and haven't been on the board.
The old NOS 427 numbers black insert paint is duller than newer NOS 427 and 454 numbers. The dull black numbers would be from the light blue/white GM boxes. If the part should be original era in the GM box rather someone opening it and replacing it with a later one. I had some original take offs numbers off an original low mileage 68 hood and they are a duller black and have seen while judging on some original cars the duller black paint on the 427 numbers is there.
FYI For you mid year 67's the 427 black paint should be a duller black vs the new NOS these days.
Front Flag emblems originals on cars and early NOS is more of an orange red vs purple red these days. I should have shown them to you when you were at the house. Don't know about the rear flags. I have a few extra of the rears.
Lower grill trims, Not sure if part number is embossed or not on the repops. Hood inserts I would rather find some nice NOS pieces. The black inlay paint is not so perfect unlike the repops
Exhaust bezels repops are so nice and shiney. I still like the NOS originals some imperfections. I have a couple of extra sets if you need any. Rear licence plate Bezel,,,, well you can go repro on that if you want. I didn't see much of a difference.
                  Anyways send me an email
                  Take care Grant
