C1 Clutch Fork & Throwout Bearing Question

Hi all,

Maybe I'm noticing things I hadn't paid attention to before, but just wanted to check with all the expert mechanics out there on my clutch fork and throwout bearing before I do something I need to redo. The first pic is straight on and you see the throwout bearing is not centered. I didn't notice this the couple of other times I've done this, so maybe it just centers with the transmission shaft and is still held centered by the ends of the fork.

The second pic shows the clutch fork looking a bit counterclockwise instead of level and even with the hole. Even if the throwout bearing slides up and centers, the fork will still be in this position.

Just wanted to check before I tighten too many more bolts.

You're fine. Once the T/O bearing is on the bearing retainer of the trans. everything will line up correctly but make sure the fork is seated correctly on the pivot ball.

Back in 1965 when I was 18 years old I converted my 1960 Chevrolet convertible w/283 & A.T. to a 3-speed manual transmission and Hurst Mystery shifter. I removed the shaft from a no good 3-speed transmission and used it to keep everything in alignment when I installed the 3-speed. Many years later I also used the same shaft when I installed the Muncie back into my 1966 Corvette during the 1980-1995 frame-up restoration. I still have the same shaft in one of my tool boxes.
