Stainless Polishing

Does anyone have any recommendations for stainless polishing? I have always used Dave Marmet of Classic Stainless and his work was always perfect and reasonable. Dave has now retired. Any personal experience suggestions would really help. I have searched this and the threads are pretty old so I was hoping someone might have some current contacts....

I'm assuming you just want to polish. Not removing dents and scratches. As that would require straightening and sanding in stages. But the polishing would require some pre fine sanding minimal to get a real shine. If the stainless is flash chromed that is another issue. But just polishing will require buffing compounds of various grits. The buffing wheels are of differing types and you will need to read up on their usage with different cutting and buffing techniques.

You can become quite proficient at polishing stainless with some time on the wheel preceded by sanding (800, 1000, 1200, 1500 grits). Educate yourself from various web site and publishing's prior to start.

Be cautious and wear eye protection as the buffing wheel is a tool to respect. It can rip parts right out of your hands. Gotta stay on your game.

Brad, your stainless was flash chromed. Pretty much all good platers (Paul's Chrome, Advanced Plating, etc.) can polish your trim and replate it at the same location. However, Gene has given you some good advice and you might want to try to polish it yourself. If it does not fit your skill set you can always send it off to a plater.
