Cecil, thanks for posting this. No, not many people own an L88 but I for one sure LOVE seeing anything on Chevrolet paper that references the L88 motor...Cool stuff. Thanks for posting it....ARA

I sure if the "exhaust valve hit the piston top at extremely high rpm" it would take more than this TSB to fix
the problem.

This TSB is the first official Chevrolet documentation I've seen that confirms 1966 L-88s...

I remember seeing reference to 1966 L88 in parts books, but I dismissed it as a typo. Just goes to show you ,,,

I have the TSB's (actually one original and then a revision) that show all the engines for 66 production and the L-88 is included although it wasn't listed specifically as L-88, but as Heavy Duty..

The revised issue TSB from Feb 22, 1966 shows 425 hp 427 in the Corvette as the familiar IP code, but it also lists Heavy Duty code IT and with aluminum heads as IU.

And here is the original code listing from the beginning of production TSB dated Sept 14, 1965.
Note IP and IK for (M-22).
