I'm always nervous about posting a question when there seems to be no previous question about the same issue. Probably means its a dumb question that I should be able to figure out on my own, but I need an answer. I am replacing all of the weather stripping on my removable hard top. The original stuff was in terrible condition so I could not tell of the General used adhesive in the attachment process. All pieces are fastened mechanically, either with screws or clips in the case of the outer front seal. If they were like door weather strip that had to be attached with adhesive there would be no question. So should I use adhesive under all the pieces or not? Thanks-Doug

Doug,
I can't answer your question but did you check the AIM to see if there is a call out for glue.- Top

Re: C2 Hardtop weatherstrip
Doug, you will need black weatherstrip glue. I am going from memory, but when I did mine the front lip weatherstrip not only needed glue, but I also had to use blue painter's tape to hold it in place until it dried. I believe whatever company I got the weatherstip kit from had a good instruction sheet and instructed the use of the glue. I recall that the side/vertical pieces also needed good amounts of glue. take your time, and it will turn out awesome. Have an awl or long ice pick to use to find the holes for the attaching screws as sometimes the holes in the new rubber doesn't exactly line up perfectly with the original holes in the hard top itself. Good luck...ARA- Top

Re: C2 Hardtop weatherstrip
I did, but just took another look. On the page opposite the one showing the front seals there is an item of cement. I was expecting the list for one page to be on that page. It looks like cement is supposed to be applied only to one front seal and the joint between the post seal and the side seal. Thanks for the reminder Tim. Doug- Top

Re: C2 Hardtop weatherstrip
Anytime Doug. It's pretty straight forward. Using the awl to locate the holes really helped not destroy the new weatherstrip and also helped "guide" the new weatherstrip into it's proper positioning. The real pain in the butt was the headliner...my goodness....ARA- Top
