By Pass clamps for 1967 big block

I have a 1967 427/390 and my water pump by pass hose has 2 clamps. They are marked with "Wittek" 37. Is this correct? I have heard that Wittek 10 or 39 is the correct clamp. Does anyone have any more information?
    Thanks
    Alex

    Alex,

Have you sourced the judging manual?

      Michael,
I actually have checked the manual and it only talks about the Wittek screw clamps. They are supposed to be dated by quarter and year. The only problem is I have found those exact clamps with either a number 10,37 or 39 on them.

Do you happen to know what 37 or 39 represent? I have a Jan 5th 1967 big block. Also, are the clamps supposed to have dates on them? Thank you.

Alex, the upper and lower radiator hose clamps are the ones that are dated, along with other various clamps for air tubes, etc (all tower clamps - unlike the bypass clamps) but the bypass hose clamps do not have dates on them. Regards. ARA

Thank you. Do you happen to know what the number 10, 37 or 39 signifies on the by pass clamps? I know they all say Wittek but I can't seem to find out what the numbers are all about. Mine currently have Wittek 37 on them.

Alex, from my experience 67 BB should have #10's on the bypass hose. I believe 39's were service replacements made to replace the 10's. ARA.

I believe those numbers represent the diameter of the hose the clamp is designed for in 1/16 of an inch. So 10 would be 10/16 or for a 5/8-inch diameter hose.

                    Ara,
Richard Fortier has also told me the same thing. The #10's are original to the car and the #39 is the correct replacement. The interesting thing is I have #37. Thank you

Alex, I am not 100% positive but I think the Wittek 34 and Wittek 37 were clamps used on Ford products and not GM products

Wow. Thank you for all the information. I have an opportunity to purchase 2 #10's. Do the numbers mean anything besides just a number on a clamp? Thank you

Alex, like Terry said in this post it may represent the diameter of the hose fitting....I don't know for sure, but Terry SURE knows his stuff....Put the #10's on your car and rest easy....they represent TFP in our eyes....Good luck...ARA
