Trim Tag shows (K09) or June 9th 1967 as build date Trim (455AB) or white/black vinyl - Paint (988AA) or Marlboro Maroon is correct. T0607IL – or Tonawanda June 7th build 427/390hp manual 4-spped transmission. Block casting #3904351 appears correct with date code (E87) or May 8th,1967. 1967 CORVETTE COUPE VIN# 194377S120487. With the above information can anyone please help me determine if the engine block stamping is factory original or a re-stamp? I am concerned with IL, the I appears on the pad without the small dashes top and bottom, also the numbers 1 and 4 in the vin. The 1 is without the small flag on the top and the 4 is curved on the left side? I know this subject is controversial as opinions vary from one judge to another; so I decided to ask NCRS members their point of view and opinions. I know you guys and some gals have been around these beautiful C-2 corvettes for many years and probably seen it all. I would appreciate any input you can render. I uploaded a photo of my engine pad stamping as clear as I could. Has anyone ever seen an I shaped like this (I) before or the 1 and 4? I would appreciate all the help and opinions you can give. Thank you for your help, it would be sincerely appreciated.

My opinion: I don't think these are original stampings. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Nothing right about any of it and it's a fresh stamp shiny. Stamped with the head no the block too, VIN less gang holder spaced out - way off.
This car is a perfect candidate for the 'grew 100 cu in after it left St Louis club', remember that there are more 427's now that were built back then, what is their story on the tank sticker (that can be faked too)?- Top

Another point is the engine assembly code is stamped with the cylinder head off so you would expect to see it in the area under the plug on the head. Looks like that one was stamped with the head on.- Top

Still nice looking car. I had a Marlboro Maroon 427 400 hp with air. It also had black and white interior. Rarely drove it since it was most all original with only 19k miles. Now have a Maroon/black435 non matching number engine that I enjoy driving- Top
