Alan - I'd appreciate your responding to this as you have a very original/correct 64 car. I'd also appreciate any other responses. I could search the archive but I don't think I'll easily get to this level of detail, and I don't think this is much work for you. In fact, you can likely answer this off the top. Really three areas and I'd like you tell me what is not right.
First - plastic wiring straps - and I've tried to follow the AIM so I think this is correct. Just tell me what is wrong.
Foldover push plug type - three on left inner fender; three on right inner fender, one of these in front of hood support which I had to add. I only have this one around the radiator expansion hose as it is called out on the rediator page of the AIM and I can't get around both the hose and the wiring harness. Then one on battery box. A total of seven.
White/translucent T type on fire wall working left to right - five straps - no black T straps
1. Washer Hose(WH) to hood latch cable (HLC)
2. WH to HLC
3. Wiring Harness(WH2) to HLC
4. WH2 plus looped coil wiring to HLC
5. WH2 to HLC
Second - metal clips for wire or cable retention. Five across top of firewall under body lip. All five of mine are attached with philips screws and I can see no evidence of bonding as the AIM calls for - could this be correct? Again working left to right
1. AIM says 3799990. Mine is flat strap bent to clip shape and plasti coated. This one mounted upside down so to speak and holds wiring harness only
2. AIM calls this out on hood latch page with spacing but no part number. Flat strap with curled edge bent to clip shape and no plastic. Painted black but I think this is from a firewall painting. Holds HLC only.
3. Same as 2 mounted dead center, no paint and also upside down. Holds HLC only.
4. Same as 2
5. Same as 1 but not upside down.
Then additional:
6. Under pal nut on lower edge of heater box cover and holds wiring harness drop to starter. Didn't look up part number but may be different than 1 above - possibly larger, but also flat and coated.
7. Really in transmission tunnel holding speedo cable and back up light switch harness. Similar to #2 I thnk. Again I didn't Jack up car to get a good look or how mounted. Would have to be rivet or bonded I think.
8. On firewall ledge below clutch rod boot to hold engine harness coming off bulkhead connector, coated and attached with screw.
Third - nuts to attach blowermotor/heater box cover to firewall (probably studs off heater box inside). Paragon sells a set of forged flange nuts for this but I suspect this is wrong. Corvette central sells pal nuts, 4 large flange for flat section and 3 small flange for arount blower motor section. Is the large and small flange pal nut solution right? What I have on the car is pal but I'm missing one of the small ones which got me looking at this. Richard Fortier sells the small one, his part 3738 in his Driveline ad, with scalloped or waffled edges and he says that's correct. What do you think?
Again, thanks in advance for your help.
