    Help with making my 63 340 HP look correct

    Hello all;

    I'm hoping for some help with making my 63 340 HP technically look correct as I build the engine back.

    Info: 1963 Convertible May 24th 63 build date.

    Unfortunately the car did not have the original numbers engine. However I still want to restore the engine area back to as it looked when new.

    the block that was in the car was a 64 casting, 870 and still retained many of the original 340 hp components, so i lucky there to have a good start.

    I've just rebuilt the block and am now at the stage of going back together with things. I know it takes the same amount of time to do it right if I have the knowledge to do so.

    I have the new judging guide and that is very helpful but some pictures of a very correct engine compartment would be worth gold.

    Can anyone out there who has a 63 340 hp that is top notch post some pictures for me to follow???? Or email at ccbarrelback@cox.net

    thanks for any help

      Don;Most everything is pretty straight forward. Check the manual closely when installing your heater hoses as to how they are routed, the types of clamps used and where, and the aluminum straps used and where. Make sure you have the RH one piece spark plug wire shield (I hate it), and the correct PCV valve, hoses and routing. Make sure you have the correct intake manifold and that it does not have an open/plugged taped boss on the runner behond the carb.Good luck, and I hope someone will send you pictures that will help.Stu Fox

        Thanks for the posts all.

        The first thing I'm puzzled about is the manual says that the intake is painted silver???? It aluminum already. So what paint do I use and also it says the thermostat housing piece is also painted silver?? Yes I believe my manifold is correct as the numbers match.
