There was another awsome car event in ILLINOIS besides B/G this WeekEnd!

There was another great event in Illinois this weekend besides B/G. It was the AACA Grand National at Moline Illinois. Since we are
all Chevrolet fans I thought I would share a few pictures with you. The cars in Class 36B was unreal; I had my 69 Z28 there. Here we
go. Thanks; Larry P.S. Yes it rained there too!!

Thanks for sharing. The big-engine full sizes fascinate me.
    Dave,

The exhaust manifolds on a 425/450 HP 427 passenger car would have had a generous coat of orange paint, just like Corvette. The engines were almost identical and the exhaust manifolds were the exact same as Corvette.

Dave: Thanks; it was a awsome show. 1 solid mile of original cars (parked on both sides of the street). Earliest car was a 1909 Economy and
everything else you can think of like; Packards, Duesenburg's,Caddy's; Old Chevy "business coupes". On and on; lots of museum cars. All original
and 99% trailered. Had close to 400 cars that all got judged. I have been to B/G before and like it very much but there was more $$$ on the
AACA judging field then the certification field at B/G. Yes those Biscaynes are something else; always liked them--lightweight with all the goodies
underneath.==Thanks-Larry P.S. In my class alone there was 3 COPO's.

Dave, Not all Corvette owners display their cars with "orange" manifolds. I "display" my 67 427/390 Corvette with "cast" manifolds. Most people, that look at cars at the average car show, are not impressed with overspray, so I elected to take the "impression" route. I prefer "clean detail"...... I still received a 96.7+ score at the 2010 National NCRS convention. As a side note, I also elected to make the paint "smooth and slick". That cost 2 points (I'm not complaining as I knew this going in) but at the average car show I receive many complements on the paint

If you have any interest in the car hobby, the AACA Grand National Event is one not to miss. The best of the best from all over the USA. Many $1,000,000 plus cars, restorations to kill for. Participated in one, talk about nerve racking.

Has the 65 Chevelle originally owned by Dan Blocker of Bonanza fame been identified?

Keith: A few comments I heard at the show was that it was never found; but who knows. Added a few Vette Engines from the show.--LarryAACA Grand National Moline IL-2013 059.jpgAACA Grand National Moline IL-2013 063.jpgAACA Grand National Moline IL-2013 056.jpg
