I am IN!!!! Waiting shipment on my first Corvette!

You KNOW how excited I am.... I have wanted a Corvette since I was 8, and now am 45!
I won't bore you with the personal details.... suffice to say, God is good!

I have been looking for a solid C2 Driver for the last year or so, and frankly have/had a budget that some folks have scoffed at and said it couldn't be done.

In the next few weeks though, a very nice 1967 Marina Blue Convertible, original side pipe car, will be heading to my folks place. I live/work in Germany on a US Army base, so the next phase will be having it shipped to Germany.

    I am about to pop!

Thanks to all the folks here that have been encouraging and helpful in my search!

Best wishes Greg. God was good to me too except I had to wait until 48 before my C3 found it's way home. Great time to be alive!!!!

          Hi Greg,

you might want to visit some of the NCRS The Dutch Chapter events to get in the mood. Last weekend we had a fantastic 60th anniversarynevent in Arnhem with an astonishing 280 Corvette turn up!

Enjoy your first C2, I too was pretty old when I finally got one (59), but better late than never, and you have lots more years to enjoy than I do, but every year is special, make the most of it.

                Sadly, no... they have a 5% with 91 octane, and a 10% with 89(?).

I buy my gas on the Military base, and its the same stuff.

                Cheers

Sadly? Feel lucky, I have to drive 20 mile to get ethanol free 91 octane, and I gladly do, for all my cars old and new.

Maybe there was a double negative in my reply to your question.

Yes, their gas DOES have Alcohol. 5% and 10%.

I was "sad" that they didn't have an alcohol free gas.

Congratulations Greg! Nothing like the feeling of that first corvette. Mine was an orange '57 basket case with slicks and cracked open door. I still love that car, wish I had it!

Enjoy your car and don't worry about the ethanol--93 octane here in Texas all is labeled "may contain up to 10% ethanol". It has not been a problem for the three years I've had my 67--and at least here in Texas I'm suspicious about any retail gas pumps that don't have the ethanol disclosure label on them. You can be pretty sure that (other than additive packages), the gasoline is coming from the same refinery sources and the absence of an ethanol disclosure label doesn't mean that it's alcohol free gasoline.

                          Paul,
The alcohol is added at the terminal -- as the gas and additives go into the tanker. Because alcohol absorbs water it cannot be shipped in the pipelines to the terminal, and must be shipped there in separate tankers from the gasoline. The logistics of the transportation of the alcohol is not simple for the petroleum companies. I am not asking for sympathy for the petroleum companies -- just offering a perspective.

I still doubt the veracity of any retail pumps in Texas that don't disclose ethanol content as being no alcohol fuel. Example: for years there were two Chevron stations a traffic light apart near where I live and one had no disclosure label on their pumps and the other did. Low and behold, one day years ago the non-disclosed pumps got the labels and have had them ever since. I seriously doubt (when relevant) those two stations weren't getting the same fuel from the same tankers.

I'm not from Missouri, but I'm a skeptic given nearly every gas pump discloses ethanol content. I just don't believe an outlier or two that don't have the labels are magically getting and selling no alcohol gas (and for several years now, it always seems to be in some out of the way location that has old pumps without ethanol content disclsoure labels). Fortunately, I've not seen an issues (or read of credible reports) of problems with 10% or less ethanol in gas, other than percolating in the carbs during heat soak and black soot on tail pipes (which I get with my 911 and hate but have gotten used to cleaning off the tale pipes at every wash).

Here in New Mexico ethanol free pumps are labelled in very large, bold print stickers, and signs up on the street on the price tally board. There are also normally a dozen or so cars lined up to get the ethanol free premium during peak hours. They are very popular, and the jobber (a friend of mine from my old oil days) says he can't keep enough in the tanks to last through his allotment period. But, he continually gets pressure from the state and feds about the pumps, they "inspect" him twice as often as other jobber sites, they don't like ethanol free pumps that are so popular.
