Ammeter and fusible links in a 66

Gents, Previous post have suggested adding a 14 ga fusible link to the wiring harness as portions of the harness are unprotected in 66. Fusible links were added in 67. The fusible link is supposed to be added to the 10GA red wire at the B terminal of the solenoid. My question is the 10 GA red wire runs from the solenoid to the B terminal of the alternator. I read in the archives ( trying to fix my inoperative battery meter) this red wire is the shunt that the battery meter ( sensitive voltmeter) is supposed to read the voltage drop across. Wouldn't adding a 14 ga fusible link to this wire effect the voltage drop hence the ammeter reading? Randy

    Randy -

    Nope - it's not a resistance wire - just a fusible link.

      John,

Thanks. Guess there is no reason to delay adding that fusible link to the harness. I see from the archives that some recommend adding a 2 amp fuse to one of the battery meter ( ammeter) feeds too.
