    Most accurate 327-300HP camshaft

Who makes a camshaft that would be closest to the original specs for the 67 327-300HP. I'm thinking I may as well change out mine while I'm into the other problems, but still not sure. Engine builder says he installed what he was told, but apparently it is not a 300HP cam. He also incorrectly installed a high pressure oil pump. Guess who won't be using him anymore or recommending his business. Maybe one day, I'll get all issues solved and get the car on the road. It's only been since 1993 or 94 when I started, stopped and restarted in 2010--what's a few more years when you're 60? Right? Anyway, I always appreciate any suggestions or hints I'm given. TIA Al

HMMM, I thought Duke Williams had some kind of custom grind that he highly recommends for the 327/300. You might want to PM him, I havent seen him post lately?

My engine builder used a Clevite #229-1871 on my '67 327/300. Installed the high pressure oil pump which I hate but not changing it now.

If you go to bottom of this page under "Similar Threads" and select 1967 327hp camshaft by Timothy Barbieri, the last post is by Duke with information on the 300hp camshaft for your Corvette.

It's no problem to have a custom grind cam made to any spec you want and made on CNC machines which is a lot better than the old grinders. Also you might consider .002 taper rather than a .001 which helps with the oil problems with todays oils makes lifters turn better.I have custom cams made for every engine I do.

The absolute most accurate cam you can use if you can find one is an NOS GM #3896929 which was the cam originally used. However, if you use a GM #14060651 it will be so close to original as to be indistinguishable. The 14060651 is still available from GM but it's expensive. If you contact one of the big GM parts outfits like Sallee Chevrolet, Pace Performance, or Scoggins-Dickey, they may have available "take-out" examples of this cam which they usually sell at a dirt cheap price (like 25 bucks). The source of these cams is new GM crate engines which they modify and sell over-the-counter.

Of course, there are aftermarket copies of the 3896929 but if you wish to go genuine GM, the 14060651 is the way to go (especially if you can get one for 25 bucks).
