Engine is 62 340 Horse. National Top Flight Bloomington Gold all stock. I drive the car about 300 to 500 miles a year. When I put the car away in winter it ran normally. It spends the winter in 65 to 70 degree dehumidified garage. First short drive this spring I noticed engine ran very flat. Hard to describe but didn't feel normal. Second drive today the engine accelerates under full throttle without missing but does not pull with power and RPM maxes out about 5500. It idles at 900 rpm for a few seconds then loses speed slowly until it would stall without adding throttle. My first thought is bad gas but I have never had a problem before in the 15 years I have owned this car. Added Stabil last winter. I use pump gas. Does this sudden change sound like bad fuel? What else could cause a loss of power after a winters storage with nothing on the car changed?

I would check the accelerator pump. Just remove the air cleaner and pull back the throttle and see if you get a steady steam of gas in the carburetor. -

Make sure the secondary air valve is opening at WOT and the secondary lockout linkage from the choke isn't stuck; either condition will make the AFB behave like a 2-barrel.Comment
