Does anyone know a national parts chain that is common to every city that carries the vacuum advance can for a standard distributor? I need a B28 one. The stores I call around my area--Autozone NAPA Advance don't know what I'm talking about. Is there another name for this that is in the parts book? I guess a 67 car is before their time.

Re: 67 Vacuum advance can Help in Finding one!!!!
No problem Al.
The number is a Car quest Canadian part number, but hopefully it should be the same as the US number. Michael Fitzpatrick (53596) did all the leg work for finding cross reference numbers. I'll try to include his post, but I'm not too good with computers. His post was on January 08 - 2013, if that's any help to you. Did you have any luck in locating a source?
Al, I'm not doing too good with computers tonight. Michael's post was titled "B28 Vacuum Advance Canister Source" and it lists all the different cross reference numbers. I hope you're not in a hurry. It took me a week to get a B28 from Car quest, but that's Canada so hopefully things move a bit faster in the US.

Thanks Carmen, found the cross references. This should help. Seems as though no one carries these in stock. It has to be special ordered. I did find 2 stores that had a 1 size fits all, but not what I needed. Will try again on Mon. I guess. Right now, I'm back to trying to solve the brake issues--will probably be on that all day again on Sunday. Thanks for the tips, though. Al- Top

The "B28" stamped vacuum control was manufactured by Standard Motor Products regardless of which brand box it is packaged under. It is equivalent to old GM #1116236. However, Standard Auto Parts has discontinued this piece. That means that all the other brands will have to discontinue it, too. You might still find some stock under any of these brands but when they're gone gone, they're gone.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Got mine from Car quest 05/21/13. List $12.94 Net $8.79. Don't know why he gave me the net price, since it was the first time I stepped into his store. Maybe I looked pathetic and he felt sorry for me.
