Jack...probably best to send an email to Eric Mortimer to get an answer direct from the source. He doesn't check in here all the time and you'll probably get an accurate and prompt reply by email. I'm just guessing, but perhaps there wasn't room in this issue.

I'm guessing that since it's easily Googled that the page was removed to make way for other items.

In these modern times the area codes have less meaning than they use to. I recently got a new land phone number. I live in New Hampshire where the area code is "603". My new land line phone number has a Massachusetts area code, "508", because there were no "603" numbers available with Google Voice. Dialing the "603" area code when I make local calls in NH is the price I pay for a free land line phone system. I can live with it.

Even though I work for Verizon, I always found it convienient to be able to cross check with the sellers time zone before I called while reading the Driveline ads.

Try this: http://www.allareacodes.com/. Just enter the area code in the instant phone lookup box and press search. It even gives you a map.

Knowing that Eric is limited to the number of pages he is allowed to print, my guess is that he has to save space ever now and then. Pages are done in multiples of four, cannot add just one sometimes

Do all cel. phones indicate which state is being dialed, after installing the number, before actually pushing the call button ?

Mine doesn't unless there is something in it that I don't know about -- and that is highly likely. I am happy to make and receive a phone call on it.

Edit add: Ray, Please share with us the type of phone you have and the operating system that allows for this remarkable advance in technology.

Geographic location of the called number is not normally a part of the Caller ID. However, the cell/land line/cable/Internet phone service provider could do this as an additional feature.

CityID is the feature some cell phone providers have enable with an app. Verizon charges $1.99/month for CityID feature. AT&T also has the feature for Andoird phones.

I actually just took the last issue with the area codes in it and tore it out and put it in the new one rather than look up the area codes on the puter...
