    Bowtie Cars

When did NCRS start judging Bowtie cars and how would I find out how many there are of a particular year?

1992 National Convention in Warren, MI was the first year for Bowtie judging. I would suggest you contact Roy Sinor, National Judging Chairman for the second half of your question.

Just a small, perhaps inconsequential detail: The first year of Bowtie judging Vinnie cites was only for one class of solid axle cars -- I don't remember which. Bowtie judging for all the classes we judged at that time began at the National Convention in 1993.

We judged 61-62 Bowtie at Warren. I was privileged to lead that team. I remember it well. 4 pieces of plywood on the lawn. 4 jackstands on the plywood. Car on top of that so judges could get underneath. High-tech we were!

I tried that per your suggestion but no response, so I guess it will remain a mystery. I didn't want to bug him about it since he's retiring. I'll find out eventually.

In the past, I've gone through all the Each Restorer that reports the results of the National Meet and compiled those. There have been, for example, 9 62's, according to my reckoning, that have bowtied.

You are not bugging me you can count as easy as I can the new online data retention system is not as simple to query as the system I used to use. So it takes time and right now I don't have it with two regionals just completing and a national to prepare for.

Thanks Roy I didn't know it was available on the web site. I'll see if I can find it.

Jerry...it's not really available on the website...only certain people have access to the information Roy mentions. Roy being one of them and maybe less than a handful of other administrators.

                      Re: Bowtie Cars

One of the problems with this kind of request for data is that it is a moving target. Given the coming National Convention the numbers of Bowtie cars will change for some classes. I remember years ago someone asking how many cars had achieved Duntov & Bowtie. Roy responded with a number, but by now that number is not valid.

I should have said it is not as easy for me to query! You will have no access to the data. The translation should have been you can count them in the restorer as easy as I can, not that you have access to the NCRS database.
