Mid year rear spring with unusual emblem

Let me start my saying I've restored numerous original rear springs over the years but have come across an emblem never wittnessed. Currently am restoring a customers original mid year ('67) rear spring. During the restoration process came across an emblem embossed on at least 3 of the leaves. From what I can interpute letters read "GMU" which are raised on side of leaves. Wow....what's this all about? Anyone see these letters before?

    Hey Mike,
Been a while. I picked this up off another forum. Thought it might be a start.

Many midyear Corvette rear leaf springs have "GLS" debossed on the edge of the leaves, and our research with Rockwell and Ontario Steel Products (who manufactured the springs) disclosed that the "GLS" stood for Great Lakes Steel, who supplied the SAE 5140 strip stock the springs were made from. The "GMU" on Camaro leaf springs must identify a different steel supplier to Chevrolet-Livonia Spring & Bumper, who manufactured the Camaro springs."

I have seen more than a few GMU on 1970-72 Corvettes
