I just returned from the 2013 LAKE TAHOE REGIONAL. Thank you Northern California Chapter and other ''workers''. This was one of the best REGIONAL events I have attended in recent years. 29 Corvettes were judged, and I believe, at least 4 cars received PV Awards. The quality of judging and professional attitude of all was very refreshing.
We had a rare 1963 SWC Red coupe # 711 race car that was qualified for HERTIAGE AWARD. Mike Vietro has to make a few changes to the car, but the judges liked the documentation and photo history on the car.
NOLAND ADAMS, RICH MASON and racer PAUL REINHART showed up Friday. Noland was there all weekend. GREAT FRIENDS from the old days. We all had a fun ''bench racing'' discussion under the CORVETTE STOP RESTORATION TENT that offered shade and cold water to us ''old'' guys.
Rich drove his old red 57 fuelie he bought in 1978 that had RPO 684 Brakes and springs that were added by the original owner. A real SEBRING PACKAGE CAR. In those old days you could go to your Chevy dealer and for $202, you got a wooden box of parts consisting of front and rear springs, quick steer adapter, screened backing plates, ceremetalic linings, wheel cylinders, and 'elphant ears and rear metal air duct' for brake cooling. Most Corvette racers used this service to add to their cars performance
I attended the ADVANCED JUDGING SCHOOL which was fun. Over the years, I was very involved in ''racing'' my 64 B/P Fuelie, so I stopped judging in the late 80's and early 90's.
Well, the school paid off.......I was shocked Saturday night at the banquet. ROY awarded me my ''MASTER JUDGE HAT'' !! WOW, A COMPLETE SHOCK. This is a great club of fine friends.......Great Cars......and fun places to visit.
