    72 Plastic Part

Does anyone out there know where the plastic (ABS?) under seats seat belt covers can be had (preferably new)? Does the carpet tuck under the edges when installed or does the carpet go on top ? Is ABS repairable ? If anyone has a photo taken of this area showing the covers installed would you be willing to send it to me either on the forum or private message ? -- a picture is worth a 1,000 words.
    Thanks

    Rey,
ABS plastic is definitely repairable. I have used Weld-On brand #1707 which is made exclusively for ABS. To be sure it is ABS, rub a small amount of laquer thinner in an obscure location. If it softens the plastic it is ABS. I have bought this product locally at a large plastic fabrication company in Detroit but I'm certain that it is available on line.

Just had a thought, Oatey makes an ABS adhesive for PVC piping. Why would that not work on your part. You can find it in about any hardware store. I like to use the primer when using it.

I've been wanting to try that just for kicks. SuperGlue will adhere to ABS but I'd recommend a backing strip if you use it. And I've used JB Weld in ABS with decent results. jB also has a Plastic Weld but I've only seen it on line.

                  Hi Jeffery,
I know it's been a while since you sent the info on IPS corp. My comment is -- Are you sure about that Product No. I have searched all of the IPS website and no luck finding a product with that number. Any other ideas?
                  Thanks Rey

Same thing as the Oatey that I posted about earlier.

                          Dick,
The adhesive that is used for PVC piping is not made for ABS which is, I believe, completely different. The adhesive I suggested is made for ABS and that only. I have not tried the Oatey product on ABS.
