1967 Ammeter spiking to the negative

    Hi,

I just replaced my horn relay and sterring column wiring along with a new headlight switch. Everyting works and the car runs well. However, the ammeter is spiking all the way to the negative and does not move. I checked the connections on the gauge and the horn relay and see nothing wrong.

I don't have any electrical gauges to test anything, but hopefully the solution will be obvious so that I don't need any analystical tools nor to learn how to use them!

    Any thoughts?

    Jerry

Try disconnecting the items you installed to see if this corrects the problem. Then re-connect them one at a time to see if the problem returns. It sounds like you have a direct short that isn't necessarily protected by a fuse

I replaced the gauge and all is well. Must have shorted out somewhere in the process
