Enclosed is a photo of a stop lamp switch that I removed from the remains of a 1974 Corvette from a salvage yard in Orange, MA, many years ago. I believe that it was a "late" 1974 (or possibly "early" 1975) as the fan clutch had a "07 74" date code and the seat belts had a "E 74" date code. The switch is white plastic and is stamped either "4CB", "4GB", or "46B". It is difficult exactly identify the middle digit. This might be a date code where the "4" indicates the year 1974.
I did some research on 1969 & newer Corvette stop lamp switches in my vintage parts catalogs and vintage parts history manuals.
Gr. 2.447
69-72 Corvette - GM # 3954246 (also listed in the 1969 AIM, UPC 12, sheet B8)
GM # 3954246 was replaced in June 1973 by GM # 3886906 which was then replaced by GM # 3886907 in May 1977 as per my Chevrolet & GM parts history manuals.
I do not have a 1974 or 1975 Corvette AIM.
My stop lamp switch might be GM # 3954246 or GM # 3886906 since the parts issued on the production line were not always the same as those sold over the counter at any given time.
I would appreciate any comments.
Dave
