    Dated Whittek Clamps

    Scott,
I don't know if this will help but I was looking thru my clamp dates for my 63 & 67 because back then most mechanics replaced them with worm clamps.

Well I found the same dates in groups of 8 and 12. I then remembered that I also changed them when rebuilding aircraft engines.

So that's another place to find them. The only problem is that they are usually one size.

I now cad plate them and heat treat them so I can use them again.

Some shops may let you dig thru their clamp box.

What dates are you looking for?

Dom, thanks. I usually looks for '69-'72 but specifically I need 1/70s and 2/70s.

          Original salvaged Wittek clamps

Scott just mentioned this thread to me. I have a fair number of salvaged clamps, tapped and died and stripped and re-plated and tapped and died again after plating. Few 64, nine 65, fifteen 66, ten 67, one 69, also several Wittek Band clamps 3/4, 1, 1 1/2 with various numbers stamped like 2,17, 23,33... give me a shout. Hugh

            Scott,

I have a small box of original clamps. They are all 68 to 72 with the exception of two or three. I know I have some late 69 and three from 1970.

I will look and see the size and date for you. Are there specific sizes you are looking for?

              Dated Whittek Clamps

While trying to remove the for sale ads in the thread, I inadvertently deleted the whole post. Sorry.

Remember folks, until NCRS comes into the 21st century, for sale and parts wanted ads are not allowed on the TDB Ain't my decision.

                Well Dick,
I wanted to see if I had posted some info about clamps a while ago so I'll do it again.

I found clamps (not for sale) that were also used in sets of 8, 12, & 16 that were used on aircraft engines.

There are piles in some aircraft shops as the worm clamp seemed to do a better job.

unfortunally they are mostly all the same size, the radiator hose sizes, I think 2 1/4.
