Re: 1968 AC drier question
We all know that if you went into the dealership and ordered a RC15 Radiator cap a few years later - the part number was the same, but the cap in the box was very different - And those 15 inch trim rings I bought in 1982 which are still in GM boxes are using the old 1967 part numbers, but they are certainly not using the same attaching clips. the parts were frequently redesigned and the same part number was used.
Now if the system for Corvette was redesigned in 68, and in fact the Evap and Cond fittings were different sizes -
then YES- the part number would absolutely change... because the 69 drier won't work on the 67 cars.
Seems Corvette was redesigned earlier, makes sense actually, because the whole car was redesigned in 68.
But remember --- all the other GM models used the earlier style drier until 1969.
What do the judges say? Is the window in the center or offset for 1968? Are the in and out fittings both the same in 68, or are they like the 69 fittings, which are 2 different sizes?
Russ sent me a picture of the drier on his car - said it had never been changed...
the paint configuration and markings look absolutely original - an over-the-counter part would not be painted like that,
so I am starting to believe him...
However his viewing window is offset to the side - someone said the judging manual read window was in center?
Can anyone confirm... what version is your NCRS manual?
