I will be looking at a 68 convertible located in snow country, How do I check the bird cage. I plan on a body off so how bad is deal killer. I found a few post on repair but not what to look for and how. Thanks again Cal

Re: How to id a bird cage issue
take the mount plates off the rear wheel wells and look inside, take the interior kick panels off (speaker covers) and look inside, look at the frame under the door sills (surfacer rust or severe rust?) take the door sill plates off (aluminum trim) and look at the door sill fiber glass (lifted, bumpy, uneven, or smooth and flat?) look at the bird cage showing through the large round holes in the door sills, (still green and no rust? Or no paint showing and severe rust?) is the front upper fender area a tight gap or seems to be pulling away from the windshield area? Getting Rick Bizzoco's "69 Stingray" book is a must in my recomendation... Good Luck~!

Re: How to id a bird cage issue
I have a friend who made parts to replace sections of a 1966 cage. Others might have done the same, and may offer them for sale. Metal fab can be done.https://MichiganNCRS.org
