I twisted one tube taking the A.I.R. tube off of my header. Can the tube be repaired or do I need to locate another? I am willing to ship it to someone if it can be fixed.

Call Bill Hodel, (330) 832-0871; he restores A.I.R. systems, and most likely can fix yours.- Top

You might try a local hydraulic hose shop - they deal with tubing like that all the time.- Top

Russ, you may be able to find a donor AIR tube at a junk yard.( something with close bends like yours) And use your manifold for the jig. and cut and braze the tube.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: A.I.R. exhaust header Tube repair?
Russ,
Ed hit it on the head. Even if you just took the time to find another tube and mock it up, then you may have to take it to a shop to have brazed up.
The nice thing is, as Ed suggested, your exhaust manifold is the ideal jig.
If by chance you do not have your manifold off and do not want to take it off, put an ad up on the other forum. I am sure someone close to you will let you barrow one. If you were close to me, I will lend you a manifold.
Where are you located? Maybe a neighbor from this site might lend you one as well.
Best of luck,
P.S. Damn Ed, your car sure is pretty. I hope mine grows up to be that nice some day!!!- Top

Re: A.I.R. exhaust header Tube repair?
Thanks for the suggestions. The manifold is on the car and the AIR tubes that extend into the engine prevent me from pulling the manifold. I don't want to break them trying to get them out (not sure how they go in). The tube is nothing special and I am sure I can find new stock to form the tubes. BTW, I am in Boise ID.- Top

Re: A.I.R. exhaust header Tube repair?
Russ,
Are you saying the A.I.R. tube that needs repair is still attached to the exhaust manifold?
And the exhaust manifold is still attached to the head of the engine in the car?
Can you post a picture of exactly we are dealing with?
Thank you,- Top

Re: A.I.R. exhaust header Tube repair?
I cannot load a picture right now for some reason. I will try later again.
The AIR system includes one main manifold with four runner tubes that screw into the exhaust manifold. When I tried to unscrew them the second from the front twisted off. So I need to replace one or all of the runner tubes.
There are also 4 straight tubes that pass through the threaded holes in the exhaust manifold to inject air into the exhaust port. I was able to remove these earlier today, but the exhaust manifold will not come out until with the clutch cross shaft in place.- Top
