1965 standard brake master cylinder rebuild

I am in the process of rebuilding the original brake master cylinder on my 65, (Non-Power) and disc brakes. I have a rebuild kit that includes the following internal parts from front to rear. Valve seat, check valve, return spring, primary cup, piston w/secondary cup, and the retaining ring c-clip. I have heard some discussion that disc brake cars do not use the valve seat and check valve. Is this correct ??, or can someone clarify the correct interior components for this master cylinder. Thanks Dominic Barbieri

Dominic it has been a long time since I rebuilt my 68's master cylinder with manual brakes and my 70's master cylinder for power brakes. From what I remember, I did not use the valve seat and check valve in the rebuilds.

      Dominic -

That's correct - Corvette 4-wheel disc brake systems DO NOT use check valves (also known as RPV's - Residual Pressure Valves); they're only used in drum brake systems. Using them in a disc brake system will result in smoke and fried brake pads.
