    Corvettes on Ferrari test track.

The attached link is of a video sent to me by a friend in Italy who attended a Corvette-Camaro event held at the Ferrari new test track in Modena Italy.
The first car on the track is 65 roadster is owned by Alex C. from Italy who recently put 6 of my LED tail lights in his roadster. He just completed a 5 year restoration on the car.
There were cars from across Europe and it sure looks like they enjoy driving them.
Look closely and there is a Mustang and a Chrysler that sneaked in.
There was no speed limit but common sense was the rule.

Cool! The best sounding and looking cool was the first car, I believe a 66 Big block burning rubber. That engine really sounded good.

Roger, The car is actually a 65 with a big block hood and a built small block engine. Very cool car. Bruce B

Not much time between cars, if you caught the car in front were you allowed to pass? A shame that can't happen in the states more often.

Thanks Bruce. I often confuse 65 and 66

              Terry,
The rule is use common sense, so if you catch someone you can pass if it can be done safely.
Of course it involves 2 people so both must work together and do the right thing..

Terry, there's multiple events like this in the U.S. every weekend. Passing rules differ but usually passing is done on specific straights with a point by done by the driver in front of you. Passing usually isn't allowed in the corners.

Where are these type of driving events held?

Bruce, most of the racetracks in the U.S. hold these events. There are 2 types, 1. The racetrack puts on the event or has a full time school on site, these tend to cost more and many times the track (school) provides the cars. 2. An outside organization puts on the event with drivers in their own cars like Hooked On Driving, Trackmasters, SCCA, etc. The costs for events using your own car vary quite a bit from $175 to $350+ per day. Most events have classroom instruction in between your sessions (pretty important for new drivers). Usually you get 4 - 30 minute or 5 - 20 minute sessions in a day. I'm an instructor at these (16 years) and a SCCA Chief of Tech, our events here run $175 for a day (probably the least expensive in the country). SCCA runs extremely safe events, the only thing for street cars we mandate is that convertibles must have a roll bar. I know that Mid-Ohio has their own school (pricey) but someone may put events on there. You'll have to spend some time doing a search for events in your area, maybe High Performance Driving Events in the Midwest, etc. The events are usually called HPDE's. If you want some really good info and really good videos of what goes on, go to: www.hookedondriving.com , they're one of the best. if you have any questions, feel free.

WARNING, Bruce......it's extremely addicting. Here's a video From a good instructor's Miata and myself in my 92 C4 at the Reno track, this is an "Instructors Only" session and we asked the students riding with us if we could run a little closer to each other than the students are allowed to do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=1cXWVG4oU_g

That's a good choice, the rubber will not show up on his black car. Since his restoration is already 2 months old, and with him in jail, he won't care? Its too bad he can't get on the discussion board.
