On Saturday, GM displayed a dark green C7 and Dave Tatman, the Plant Manager was on hand to answer questions. I was lucky enough to ask him several questions. He stated that they are currently building C7s on the line, but only to "tweak the tolerances of the vendor parts." The cars are complete, but not for retail sale. He expects full production to commence in "early summer." I asked him when the plant tours would resume. He stated that if you pre-order car, you can take a tour now to watch them build the pre-production cars, but he does not expect to start public tours before Labor Day. He wants the quality of the production cars to be close to perfect before opening up the factory to the public.
The question I did not ask was what they do with the pre-production cars being made on the line now; probably the cars that are currently on display across the US.
