1969 Hardtop

I am doing a frame off restoration and have a question concerning the hard top that came with the car. The car is an October build. Both windows and the hard top windows are August dated. How did the assemble line keep up with car and top to paint them both? Does the top have the same number as the line number on the body? There is no chalk mark behind the seat. I have not removed the hard top liner (which is in great shape) yet to look under it to see if anything is written there.

Those dates are typical; if you removed the headliner, you'd find the same Body Shop Job Number under it that you find elsewhere on major panels. The shell of the hardtop was painted with the body, then subassembled and installed on the Hard Trim Line.
