Re: 1958 - 1960 Replacement Tires
Jimmy, I have been using 215/75R/15 on my 62 for driving for about 6 years, they were also used on my 57 before it found a new owner. I use the 6.70 15 bias ply "repro" tires for judging, (I have a seperate set of wheels so it is very easy to swap back & forth). I have never had a problem.

Re: 1958 - 1960 Replacement Tires
Sorry about reviving a very old thread, but I have done several searches and the info is limited. I recently saw 215/70R15 BF Goodrich Silvertowns on a 1957. It was at an auction so no telling if the tires were working well and clearing everything at all steering angles but they were on it and looked great for a driver grade car. What wheels do you suppose were on it? They looked OEM and had correct hubcabs on them...
I want to get some BFG Silvertowns for my '58, My repro bias plys are getting old and I want to driver her more. I'm running the original date coded wheels still in great condition. Who's running 215/70R15's on their '58's? Or should I go with 205/75R15's. I would like to hear some opinions as well as those who have tried it.
Thanks

Re: 1958 - 1960 Replacement Tires
I have 215/70R15 tires on wide wheels on my '60. The only time I've heard any tire rub has been when at full lock and on uneven terrain such that one wheel is low and the other is high. Otherwise, no issues at all.- Top

What are the "wide" wheels, 5.5" wide? My OEM wheels must be 5" wide then?- Top
