72 auto shifter boot

I have various publications which show two different variations of the shifter boot. One shows a hold down (retainer)ring above the boot to anchor said boot to the Floor tunnel and one shows a second retainer under the boot. Is this correct ? If so does the second retainer mount under the tunnel from under the car or on top of the tunnel but under the boot?

Ray, I believe you have it correct.for strength reasons its likely mounted under the fiberglass.
