Question about a212cw air filter square mesh

I see a A212CW square mesh air filter that says "BEST WAY TO PROTECT" on ebay (261211478393) can anyone tell me when they started this air filter and when did they change to the diamond mesh and no "BEST WAY" Thanks

I was under the impression GM started with the diagonal mesh (around '65) then went to the square in early 70's.
