1969 Door Jamb Fiberglass Finish Original?

Door Jamb.jpgI'm looking at another car to buy and concerned about the fiberglass/adhesive finish in the door jamb. I realize this car has been painted, and not very neatly, but I'm wondering about this finish. Was the finish this crude from the factory? I only have a few pictures for now but I'm considering a long drive to look at this car on Wednesday. Opinions are greatly appreciated.

The fiberglass finish looks typical of early c3's. Most were pretty rough.

      John,

Here's another close up of the same area. I just had some concerns in this area, I know mine were rough but this looked a little worse than mine.

The original color was Riverside Gold according to the trim tag.

It looks to me to fall within the level of what was acceptable in this area.

I've attached pictures of my 69 (green) and 68 (white) so you can compare levels of crappy finish. The 68 actually looks pretty good.

          John,

Thanks for the pictures to compare to. I guess my other car wasn't so bad compared to the one I'm going to look at or either one of your cars.

quick question: in the 3 pics provided- the green 69 door side is black where as the yellow and white examples are body color. - When did this change occur?

Late in the 1968 model year they began blacking out the front of the door.

Thanks John- our cars are very close- do you have body color or black?

                Best,

I have body color on my April built car. I believe the black out started in some time in May.

The Yellow car is a repaint that wasn't done with any detail at all so you can't go by this one.
