Well, I went to the archives and read the stuff, but didn't quite get my concerns addressed. I'm getting ready for PV on my '72 and today noticed a small amount of speedometer needle bounce at about 70 mph. At 50 or so the needle is pretty much stable. After reading the archive information, since the speedo is quiet, is my problem a dry cable, and if so, what is the process of lubing the cable? Can it be done from the transmission end (I hope) cuz I really don't want to yank out the dash. Thanks for your input in advance.

Re: Very minor speedometer needle bounce
Kurt, you may be able to reach your hand behind the dash and release the speedo cable. If your car has A/C, remove the lower duct. The cable will not pull out from transmisson end. If you car is a Automatic its a two piece cable, The 4 speed is a one piece. Greasing the cable would be my first try.
Be careful reaching your hand behind dash, Theres a lot of sharp metal edges to cut your hands on. hopefully you have small hands, makes the job a little easier.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
