67 Close Ratio hard to get into first

If I push the shifter firmly to the left and forward to engage first gear it definitely feels like it is hitting something hard/metallic. If I move the shift to the right very very slightly it will go into first every time. Does this sound like a shift leaver adjustment of just a worn part(s).

To me, it sounds like worn shifter parts, most likely including the "blade" at the bottom of the shifter lever.
