    Re: Lower A-Arm for '63

    Hi,

Getting ready to rebuild my '63 front suspension. I was wondering if anyone has every tried to modify a later model lower A-Arm for a '63 by un-welding or cutting out the leading edge reinforcement to make it appear correct, per the Judging Manual?

My original A-arms are in bad shape and I would need to modify a later model pair by removing the reinforcement piece.

Just curious if anyone has tried this or think its possible.

    Thanks,

    Doug

    Doug-----

I don't know if it's possible, or not. I would think it would be but it would be a lot of work and I doubt that one would end up with a piece that didn't show some "vestige" of its original configuration. However, reproduction a-arms are available in both the 1963 and the 1964+ style. These include riveted, reproduction ball joints.

If it were me, I think I'd be strongly tempted to use the 1964+ a-arms as-is. You don't think that GM added that reinforcement because it worked just as well without it, do you?
