64 to 65 trailing arm interchange?

Is it posible to interchange 64 drum brake and 65 disc brake trailing arms with modification? What modification is necessary? Are they the same length?

The last set of SERVICE trailing arms available from GM were the same for both drum and disc brake applications. However, I just don't recall what the original differences were. It might have had something to do with the parking brake or brake line brackets.

      Stan -

They're the same length, but the '65-up trailing arms have a separate pad welded on the top surface to contact the jounce bumper, which was moved inboard from its original '63-'64 location outboard of the frame with the advent of disc brakes in '65, and there are several other minor bracket differences. Photo below is a LH '65-up arm.

Here's another view of the pad and you can see the off-set jounce rubber bumper above and in line with the trailing arm pad, attached to the frame.

Thanks everyone. I'm trying to solve an alignment problem and I remember changing one and but having to remove a bracket. This must not be the problem. Thanks again! stan 19259
