    Original spark plug wire lengths

Does anyone happen to have a notation of how long the original spark plug wires should be for each installed position for a 1972 base motor 350? I will be installing a set of AC Delco 508n wires, and know that at least 2 of them are too long. I would like to trim them and recrimp them to the correct length if I can find out what the lengths should be.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hello Patrick, I used reproduction spark plug wires made by lectriclimited. For your 1972 Corvette small block, you would need this set (lengths are written in the PDF-file): http://www.lectriclimited.com/images...ns/INS1226.pdf Have a nice day.

      Hi Ruedi,

I have used those, but it's not what I am installing now in this car. So, I still would like to know the length of original wires.

Are those from the Lectric Limited instructions, or lengths taken from original wires?
If from LL, can anyone verify their correctness?

It's just that I don't entirely trust Lectric Limited regarding this info.

            Patrick,
I have the original wires I removed from the '72 small block of my neighbor across the street. I will measure each and get that to you later today.

Yes, taken from Lectric Limited correct reproductions. I am curious how accurate they are to originals.

                Thanks Jeff.

I save all those removed items too, but I've got no plug wires in the collection.

                  Patrick,
I just realized that the wires are here at my house not in the shop so I got the measurements for you. Unfortunately, some of the boots are broken off so the measurement is to the end of the wire itself in these cases but it's close enough. They are dated 3Q-71

                  1- 26 1/4"
                  1- 28 1/4"
                  2- 32"
                  1- 40 1/2" no spark plug boot
                  1- 47 1/4" no coil boot
                  1- 47 3/4" no spark plug boot
                  1- 48" no coil boot

Also note that the date on original wires has no dash between the "3" and the "Q" where the LL repros are "3-Q". Hope this helps.
                  Jeff

                    Thanks Jeff!

Looks like a couple of small differences vs LL with their 49 inch lengths.
The 40 1/2 vs 45 inch notation is the biggest difference between them.
