    69 427/390 Intake Gaskets

    Guys,
I am removing my intake manifold for restoration. I'm not having much luck finding correct intake gaskets. Anyone have suggestions for where to get them.
Also, I have read in the archives about folks who "restore" aluminum intakes. Do you know what they do? I was just planning to lightly glass bead media blast it. I was wondering what else they might do to them. I have sprayed them with polyurethane clear in the past and they stay looking new for many years and does not stain. I really appreciate any ideas!
    Thanks as always!

Are you talking the side gaskets?
If yes, you can have my repros from the P for free, come & get 'em, they are too thick and that's just the beginning of wrong.

I assume you mean oval ports too.

If you can find an NOS GM #3955526 you will have the exactly correct gasket set. I don't know how hard or expensive that will be to find, though.

I've always thought and understood that the Paragon reproductions were fine. They don't have the tiny "GM" embossed on the end seals but, otherwise, both functionally and configurationally they were fine.

Various vendors such as Jerry MacNeish provide aluminum manifold restoration service. After their "treatment" the manifold will appear as-new. Other forms of restoration such as media blasting will not result in an original surface finish but might be adequate for most folks.

I am completely in favor of the use of satin urethane clear on restored manifolds, professionally done or not. Yes, I'm sure the judges can detect it but if you want the manifold to remain decent-looking for a long while, it's the only way to go. I've used it for years for aluminum parts.
