    Ron,

Not sure what you mean by air scoops for the 1/4 panels. The 1/4 panels were unique to Z06/N03 but the mod had nothing to do with air scoops.

Modifications like this were almost never done at the St Louis plant. The unique 1/4's for Z06/N03 were a separate part number and arrived at the plant with the modifications.

Some of the 63 cars that showed up for Sebring and Daytona had scoops mounted on the rear deck but these were added by owners.

My car which I purchased in 1968 I believe to be an original N03 is an early November car, so I'm just trying to learn more about the car and the outline for the scoops coming thru the re paint.

Ron,If you can find some pictures of the Delmo Johnson car in 63, you will get an idea of what several owners were using for scoo[s on the rear deck. I may have one or two.

Just found a pic of the Delmo Johnson 63 with the scoops on the rear deck.

Thanks Michael for the picture, have you ever seen a tanker before with the air scoops, that is NOT a ZO6?

If the Delmo cars scoops are the ones your asking about, why do you refer to them as on the 1/4s?

              Ron,

No, I haven't. Not a factory assembled car anyway.

I've never seen any 63 Corvette with rear deck mounted air scoops that I thought were original production.

Here is another car with them mounted. I have pictures of a few other cars if they will help you in any way. I can dig them out if needed.

                  Thanks Monte,
I'm really confused with my car, if that's the right word, what I have is a fuel car, radio delete, what appears to be original tanker, racing seat belt, painted metal flake blue at one time, with two circles on the quarters for I believe to be for air scoops......like I said before, I purchased the car in 1968!

                  Any help is greatly appreciated.

                    Ron,

Are the holes in the 1/4 panels or are they in the rear deck??? The 1/4 panels that you refer to are on the side of the body. The rear deck is the horizontal surface. Which is it?

I think the only way anyone is going to be able to help you on this is if you can post some pictures of these mystery holes.

Also, try to post some pictures of the other items unique to the N03/36.5 gallon fuel tank.

If you have an early car, it's not likely that it would have had a big tank without the rest of the Z06 package.

Will do Michael, the holes are on opposite sides on top of the quarter panels in a straight line with gas filler opening, will post pictures later today when I get off work..........the holes are probably about the size of a softball.........

Almost sounds like mounting placement for lights to run night races?????

I still don't understand why you keep referring to the quarter panels. As stated in my previous post, quarter panels are mounted vertically, on the sides of the car. Are the holes actually in the quarter panels? Or are the holes in the horizontal deck panel?????
I'm old and confuse easily now. Help me here.

Ron -- Here's a shot of the Z06/N03 quarter panels (beige/cream fiberglass); this is on a '65 tanker [not mine] that I saw in a Corvette shop in San Francisco about 1988.

Michael your only as old as you feel, just got home from work, so I hope I can clarify things , just measured the distance from the gas filler inlet to the edge of the hole, it's approx 12 to 13 inches on the horizontal surface, and the hole is approx 4 inches in diameter. so if you stand directly behind the car you would see the holes imprinted in the 45 year plus paint, but I will post some pictures later which will show how they are blocked off on the underside of the car by a 5 inch square piece of fiberglass.
