would the drive belt you can get from GM now do for judging or would it also lose points?

If you're referring to a V-belt application, most of those are not even available from GM anymore. They're generally available through Delco but those are completely different belts, usually "cogged" style. Even if you were to obtain an NOS original GM belt, you would need one manufactured before about 1973.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: GM Belt
That's exactly why I won't use a tablet and I don't even have fat fingers.
Anyway, as far as the 1989 belt goes, the original belt was likely GM #10055747, coded "UDC". This belt was 2335 mm in length. It was discontinued in April, 1989 and replaced by GM #10105314, coded "UJL". This belt was 2340 mm in length. I think it's very possible, in fact almost a certainty, that later 1989 Corvettes originally used the 10105314 belt. The GM #10105314 belt was discontinued in October, 1996 and replaced by GM #24505041, coded either "UJL" or "SFZ". The latter is also now discontinued and the only replacement I can find is a Delco belt of GM #88932784. Often, Delco belts are of aftermarket quality, not OEMIn Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: GM Belt

I don't have any information on that belt. However, it may be the current replacement for the 24505041 and I just don't have a record of it yet.
Usually, GM belts, while manufactured by one of the major belt manufacturers, will have the GM part number on them. So, it's usually pretty easy to discern originals (or SERVICE belts of the original part number) from later replacements. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
