65 Clutch Rod Firewall Boot Question

    Fellow '65 Owners/Expert
The current '65 JG lists 2 designs for the upper clutch rod firewall boot, with an approximate change over near the 17000 ish serial#. I have observed 3 cars near that serial# window.
#17042 STL body: early design. #17301 STL body: late design. #17519 AOS body: late design. According to the JG, the second design was introduced near serial# 11750. I would like to know if there are any examples of cars prior to #17000 ish with the second design boot?
    Any input is greatly appreciated.

    Marco

Just another case where the 1965 JG is wrong. It's one of many. You can restore your car how it was originally built or you can change it to comply with an incorrect Judging Guide. Your choice.

      Jim,
You have brought up the point I am trying to confirm. One reasonable explanation for the conflicting info could be that the drawings for design changes were issued during production #11750, and finally entered production near #17000. If that's indeed the case, I would rather see the confusing data removed. Thanks for your help.

If anyone has a car near the 17000 serial#, please post your findings.
