Re: trim tag body number vs tank sheet and crayon body number
Craig,
So, you have a St Louis-bodied Corvette with body #63 - what you didn't state is whether it is a convertible or coupe, as each had numbering system that did NOT coincide with each other "exactly". Second, you state VIN is in 300's, and VIN has NOTHING to do with body, as stated in first item. Third the number 292 is the JOB NUMBER, and has NOTHING to do with the first two numbers. This is the number that started with 001 and ran to 500, and then repeated throughout the entire build year.
Others will correct this, as necessary.Rick Aleshire

You said it all, but only to clarify further, since I need everything spelled out and spoon fed to me:
1. The convertible body numbers and coupe body numbers on the TT were 2 separate sequencing lists and the body number of each coupe and convertible body may have coincided as to date built early in the year. Build dates for similarly numbered body builds of coupes and convertibles became further separated as the MY progressed due to differences in the numbers of coupes to convertibles built.
2. Job numbers as used in St. Louis during final assembly and as crayoned onto such places as the lower firewall at engine side of footwell, inside of doors, dash z-brace, and rear deck were, as I understand it, sequenced from 001-500-001, and then repeated throughout the entire BY.- Top

Re: trim tag body number vs tank sheet and crayon body number
And dont forget you have a another complete line (AOS) producing bodies along with St. Louis from 64-67. They had another set of Job numbers and body tags added to the mix. It depends on the year as to how early they were added to the line.- Top
